Residential Roof Replacement

Roof Replacement Materials We Install

We install four roof systems on homes. Each one lasts a different length of time and costs a different amount. Here is the short version of what each one is.

Standing seam metal roof on a multi-story building, installed by Central Carolina Roofing Systems

Standing Seam Metal Roofing

Long metal panels that lock together along a raised seam. No nails show. A standing seam roof can last 50 years or more, and it sheds rain and snow fast.

Hand-laid cedar shake roof with metal flashing where it meets a brick chimney

Cedar Shake Roofing

Natural cedar, or Brava composite shake that keeps its color and needs no treatment. Both suit older homes and homes built to look older.

Synthetic slate roof with a hip ridge, installed by Central Carolina Roofing Systems

Synthetic Slate Roofing

Brava composite slate that looks like cut stone but weighs much less, so most roof frames carry it without being built up. Class 4 impact rated.

Architectural asphalt shingle roof over two gabled dormers and a craftsman front porch

Designer Asphalt Shingle Roofing

Thicker and heavier than the flat three-tab shingle most homes have. The extra depth casts a shadow line, so the roof reads more like wood or slate from the street.

Roof Material Matcher

Which Roof Is Right for Your Home?

Answer five quick questions about your house and what you want from a new roof. We match you to Brava synthetic slate, cedar shake, standing seam metal or designer asphalt, and you can book a free roof measurement with owner Troy Carlson from there.

What a roof costs comes down to how big it is, how steep it is, what it is made of, and how many old layers come off. Every roof is different, so we measure it and give you a written price.

Capability Study

Waterfront Custom Home Roofing Project — Beaufort, NC

Capability study. Beaufort is outside the area we serve.

Cedar shake roof and three gabled dormers on a Beaufort custom home
Custom fabricated metal chimney cap on a brick chimney

We roofed three custom waterfront homes in Beaufort, each one built at over $3 million. Together the three roofs came to about $300,000 of roofing work.

One property used four systems on the same house: TPO on the low-slope sections, cedar shake, standing seam metal, and custom metal work at the chimneys and edges. Getting four systems to meet cleanly on one roof is the part that takes 39 years to learn.

Commercial

Commercial & Multi-Family Roofing Contractor in North Carolina

Most of what we do is commercial, and it has been since 1987. That is where the 4,000 roofs came from. It is also why we can stand behind what we put on a house — the standards on a commercial flat roof are not looser than the ones on a house. They are tighter.

Why Homeowners Hire Us

Why Homeowners Hire Central Carolina Roofing Systems

Most roofing companies are younger than the warranty they sell you. Here is what is different here.

  • The owner comes to every job. Not to the first one. To every one.
  • We answer the same business day. Call, email or fill in a form. You hear back before the day is out.
  • We do not chase storms and we do not work insurance claims. Every roof we sell, a homeowner chose to buy. That changes how we sell.
  • We hold CertainTeed ShingleMaster PRO. It unlocks the CertainTeed SureStart PLUS 3-star & 4-star warranties.
  • We have been at this since 1987. Close to 4,000 roofs. A+ with the Better Business Bureau since 2003.

FAQ

Roofing Questions We Get Asked Most

What areas does Central Carolina Roofing Systems serve?

We work out of Mebane, North Carolina. We take jobs in Alamance, Orange, Durham, Wake and Guilford counties. That covers Mebane, Hillsborough, Chapel Hill, Durham, Burlington, Graham, Efland, Elon, Gibsonville, Whitsett, Raleigh and Greensboro. If you are just outside that, call and ask.

What roofing materials does Central Carolina Roofing Systems install?

On homes: standing seam metal, Brava synthetic slate, cedar shake (natural or Brava composite) and designer asphalt shingles. On commercial buildings: TPO, EPDM and modified bitumen for flat and low-slope roofs, plus membrane and shingle work on new apartment buildings.

Is Central Carolina Roofing Systems bonded and insured?

Yes. We carry general liability and workers' compensation coverage, and we are bonded. We will send you proof of both before any work starts. Ask and we will email the certificates the same day.

What roofing certifications does Central Carolina Roofing Systems hold?

We are a CertainTeed ShingleMaster PRO, which lets us register the CertainTeed SureStart PLUS 3-star & 4-star warranties. We are a Brava Certified Contractor for Brava composite slate and cedar shake. We are also GAF Certified, Mule-Hide certified, and a Union Corrugating master installer for low-slope roofs.

Does Central Carolina Roofing Systems handle insurance or storm damage claims?

No. We do not work insurance claims and we do not knock on doors after a storm. All of our work is retail, which means the homeowner hires us directly. If you need a claim handled, we are not the right company, and we will tell you that on the phone.

How much does a new roof cost in North Carolina?

It depends on the size of the roof, how steep it is, the material you pick, and how many old layers have to be torn off. Every roof is different, so we do not post prices online. We measure your roof and give you a written price. Our Roof Material Matcher helps you pick the right material first.
